Welcome 2022 And What to expect in Year of the Water Tiger

With 2022 rapidly approaching, we are all ready to leave 2021 in our rear-view mirrors and turn onto the highway of the new year. The Chinese New Year, however, is its own separate celebration with traditions that are followed worldwide by all walks of life. The Chinese like to assign an animal to each year and 2022 will be no different, as it joins 2010 and 1998 as the most recent years associated with this particular creature.

The year of 2022 will be known as the year of the tiger, which is known as the king of all beasts in the most populous country on Earth. The zodiac sign tiger is a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness, and many Chinese kids wear hats or shoes with a tiger image of for good luck. The tiger ranks third among the animals of the Chinese zodiac. The 12 zodiac animals are, in order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each year is related to an animal sign, according to a 12-year-cycle. Whereas the last year of the tiger was back in 2010, this was a gold tiger. This year, though, the tiger will be a water tiger, which signifies someone who has a strong sense of self-esteem and learning ability. Last year it was the year of the ox, and the qualities that emerge from this zodiac sign are diligence, strength, honesty, down-to-earth persistence, and wealth. This year, the Chinese New Year begins on February 1 and celebrations can last up to 16 days, although only the first seven are considered a national holiday. The festivities are likely to begin on January 31 and they end with the traditional and eye-catching Lantern Festival on February 15. For mums expecting bubs in 2022, you will be welcoming little water tigers! With the water element in their sign, it is predicted these little ones will be calm, cautious but also ambitious people. Those with the tiger sign, in general, are also thought to be natural leaders, have charisma and attempt to pull off big things. They also do not lack self-confidence. For this reason though, they sometimes need to be brought back down to earth! As for those of us who fall under other Chinese zodiac signs, we will be impacted by the traits of tigers this year and as a result, could have either a good or difficult year. Either way, it doesn’t sound like it will be dull. The animal tiger is forceful, frightening and cruel but they are also brave, quick to pounce and can conquer. Tigers are also a symbol of power throughout the world. For this reason, 2022 might be the year to act a bit more like a tiger? It is thought that situations will change without much notice and we need to be alert (sounds familiar!). This applies on both a personal and global level. Hmmm, interesting given the times …
