Free Steam games: ‘Showdown Bandit,’ ‘Geneshift: Battle Royale Turbo’ and ‘Evil Genius’

Playing video games is all the rage these days with most people opting to remain indoors to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. For those who have PCs, here are some of the free Steam games available for a limited period.

‘Showdown Bandit’

For those looking for a free to keep game from Steam, the “Showdown Bandit” is available for download until June 1, Vg247 reported. Since this title is created by the same company that made the Bendy franchise, gamers can expect the same heart-stopping scares and top-notch gameplay.

The “Showdown Bandit” is classified as a top-down, stealth, action-horror game. It is set after the popular children’s puppetry television series “The Showdown Bandit Show” is discontinued.

Gamers play as a puppet that used to be a star in the now-defunct series. Unlike most horror titles, the player can fight against his foes. However, it is still better to avoid combat if possible to minimize damage.

‘Geneshift: Battle Royale Turbo’

Another exciting free to keep Steam title is the “Geneshift: Battle Royale Turbo,” according to Altchar. As its name suggests, it’s survival of the fittest as players try their best to kill each other to be the last man standing.

Developed by Nik Nak Studios, the game is described as a top-down shooter. It also features various vehicles and a skills system that players can unlock.

Unfortunately, players will need to grab the chance to keep the game for free. “Geneshift: Battle Royale Turbo” will only be available for free until May 13, 2020.

‘Evil Genius’

For gamers who prefer strategy, the cult classic strategy title “Evil Genius” is up for grabs. All that’s needed is to sign up to a Rebellion account before linking it to their Steam account and add the game to their library, according to GameSpot.

“Evil Genius” is a real-time strategy and simulation title that is only available in single-player mode. Released in 2004, the game was developed by Elixir Studios and published by Vivendi Universal Games before Rebellion Developments owned its intellectual property rights in 2006.

The game is said to be inspired by the spy thriller genre such as the James Bond films. As its name suggests, gamers play as an evil genius with a penchant for world domination. One must build his own secret lair complete with training facilities and laboratories as one secretly creates his own high-tech private army.
