Soaring onto the scene earlier this year, the Air Jordan 1 High OG pays homage to both Michael Jordan and the Wright brothers with its “First in Flight” theme. After a preview in April, Nike has now released official images of the sneakers. The shoe features an off-white leather exterior with gold and two shades of blue. The release package includes a thematic sockliner, hang tag, and shoe box. The release is set for July 6 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers, priced at $180 USD in women’s sizing.
The “First in Flight” colorway, first spotted last month, celebrates Michael Jordan’s North Carolina roots and the Wright brothers’ historic flight. The upcoming drop, priced at $180 USD in women’s sizing, is anticipated to hit shelves on July 6.
North Carolina is known for its association with flight, hosting the Wright brothers’ first successful flight on December 17, 1903, in Kitty Hawk. It is also the home state of Michael Jordan, who grew up there and attended the University of North Carolina (UNC). Jordan Brand frequently pays homage to this chapter of his life, and the latest celebration is the newly-unveiled Air Jordan 1 High OG “First in Flight.”
Sporting UNC’s iconic white and blue, the pair also features navy and yellow accents. Textured white leather forms the base, with UNC blue on the Swooshes, mudguard, eyestays, and collar base. Navy appears on the collar overlay and heel counter, while golden yellow enlivens the Wings logo on the collar. The navy tongue tag features special “First in Flight” text, highlighting the theme.
Jordan Brand has not yet shared additional details about this “First in Flight” iteration of the Air Jordan 1 High OG. Stay tuned for updates as the release approaches on July 6 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at $180 USD in women’s sizing.
