Nike Quietly Exits the NFT Game, Selling Off Digital Sneaker Brand RTFKT

Nike has officially closed the book on its blockchain venture, selling off RTFKT its once-hyped virtual sneaker subsidiary to an undisclosed buyer this past December. The quiet transaction, finalized on December 17, 2025, marks the end of what turned out to be a rocky four-year experiment in digital collectibles and the metaverse.

The sale didn't come as a total shock. Nike had been signaling its retreat from the NFT space for over a year, part of a broader company reset under CEO Elliott Hill. Since taking charge in late 2024, Hill has been laser-focused on what he calls a "Win Now" strategy stripping away side projects and refocusing the company on what it does best: making top-tier athletic gear and strengthening ties with brick-and-mortar retail partners like Foot Locker.

Nike Quietly Exits the NFT Game, Selling Off Digital Sneaker Brand RTFKT

For Hill, the pivot is personal. His vision is a return to Nike's roots innovation in performance, not speculation in pixels. That means less metaverse, more sneakers you can actually lace up.

Nike kept details of the sale close to the vest. In a brief statement, the company framed the move as a "new chapter" for the RTFKT community, but wouldn't reveal who bought the brand or what they paid for it. The secrecy feels fitting for a deal that's more about damage control than celebration.

The timing is also telling. The NFT market has been in freefall, and Nike's blockchain ambitions became a legal liability earlier this year. In April 2025, a group of investors filed a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of pulling the rug out from under them when it began winding down RTFKT's Web3 operations. The suit claimed their digital assets lost significant value as a result an accusation Nike has been eager to put in the rearview mirror.

By selling RTFKT outright, Nike is making a clean break. No more digital collectibles drama, no more courtroom battles over devalued NFTs. Instead, the company is betting big on the playbook that built the Swoosh in the first place: real shoes, real innovation, and real retail relationships.

Ongoing Partnership

Since the beginning of the year, the partnership between LEGO and Nike has been a focal point for sneaker enthusiasts. As May draws to a close, the two brands have introduced their first set of products, which includes a 1,180-piece set that recreates the Dunk High and LEGO-themed footwear.

Jordan Spizike Low "Bordeaux": A Presidential Touch

The Jordan Spizike Low “Bordeaux” has garnered the endorsement of former President Barack Obama. The heel branding completes the design, featuring Spike Lee’s iconic Mars Blackmon logo on the left shoe and the emblem of his production company, 40 Acres and a Mule, on the right. Both logos are stamped in Surf Blue and Varsity Red, delivering a bold and dynamic finish.

Presenting the Nike LeBron 21

In 21 illustrious years within the NBA and a remarkable journey spanning 21 editions of the Nike LeBron series, LeBron James continues to defy all expectations, thriving both on and off the basketball court. As he embarks on his 21st season, LeBron has once again joined forces with the Nike Basketball team to introduce his latest signature shoe, the LeBron 21.

Inspired by LeBron James’ 8-year-old daughter Zhuri.

Although LeBron had previously been spotted wearing these kicks, they have now been officially unveiled in a stunning "Akoya" colorway, adding to the excitement surrounding the Nike Basketball division's holiday footwear showcase, which also includes the debut of Devin Booker's first signature shoe with Nike.

The LeBron 21 represents an evolution from its predecessor, the LeBron 20, building upon the low-cut profile with the use of premium lightweight materials inspired by the resilience of oyster shells. Drawing inspiration from his 8-year-old daughter Zhuri, the shoe prioritizes foot containment during explosive movements, much like safeguarding the precious pearl within the oyster. The upper features lightweight mono-mesh reinforced by zonal cables around the midfoot, ensuring breathability with perforations at the medial Swoosh.

To enhance performance, a Zoom Turbo unit resides in the forefoot, complemented by full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam in the midsole and a TPU midfoot shank for stability. Additional nods to oyster shells are visible through the exposed foxing construction and a quilted, perforated tongue. Mark your calendars for the retail debut of the Nike LeBron 21 in the captivating "Akoya" colorway, set to hit stores on September 28. You can grab your pair from Nike SNKRS and select Nike Basketball retailers, promising an exciting addition to LeBron's iconic sneaker lineage.

Travis Scott x Nike Attack Collaboration

During the weekend, Travis Scott graced the stage at E11EVN Miami, coinciding with Miami Race Week. The 32-year-old rapper made a notable entrance, showcasing a fresh pair of Nike Mac Attacks. Back in March, Nike and Social Status had teased enthusiasts with a sneak peek of three distinctive tear-away colorways, resurrecting the cherished 1984 tennis shoe.

What intrigues fans now is whether the Houston-based artist is imparting his unique touch to the Mac Attack silhouette, although confirmation on a potential collaboration slated for later this year remains elusive.

During the event, Scott introduced his Mac Attack footwear for the first time. These kicks arrived in a familiar color scheme of gray and black, reminiscent of the original rendition. However, they sported Travis Scott's signature reverse Swoosh, a hallmark frequently seen in Scott's collaborative efforts with both Nike and Air Jordan. The shoe seemed to boast a blend of mesh and leather in its construction, coupled with a distinctive checkerboard tongue label. Completing the design, the shoe was perched upon a white midsole, complemented by a gray rubber outsole. Whether the "Cactus Jack" branding would make an appearance elsewhere on the shoe remained a subject of uncertainty.

Stay tuned for the official announcement regarding the Travis Scott x Nike Mac Attack release.

The shoes feature a black strap with bold white "NIKE" branding, complementing the mostly white leather construction with hints of grey and black. The tongue showcases AFF88 branding with a colored basketball as a nod to the shoe's history. For die-hard Eilish fans, there are special collaborative branded insoles, a bag, and a box included, making this a must-have pair. TIGHTBOOTH, a Japanese label led by professional skater Shinpei Ueno, is set to elevate its global presence with an upcoming collaboration with Nike and the Nike SB team on the SB Dunk Low. Ueno himself has given a sneak peek of the forthcoming release, which introduces a fresh interpretation of the SB Dunk Low's upper through a distinctive combination of textures and materials.

The lateral side showcases a reflective black Swoosh, likely mirrored on the medial side as well.
