Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy, famously recognized as "Straw Hat Luffy" or simply "Straw Hat," stands as the illustrious founder and captain of the Straw Hat Pirates an increasingly notorious and formidable crew. Among his comrades, he holds the distinguished position of their most formidable combatant. His unwavering aspiration is to uncover the enigmatic treasure left behind by the late Gol D. Roger, thereby cementing his status as the Pirate King. This pursuit is intertwined with a deeply concealed dream, shared only with his trusted confidants: Shanks, his brothers, and loyal crewmates. Luffy firmly believes that attaining the title of Pirate King signifies the ultimate freedom in the world of pirates.

Luffy, a youthful figure of average height, sports untamed black hair, round ebony eyes, and a slender yet muscular physique. His iconic straw hat, the source of his alias "Straw Hat Luffy," was a treasured gift bestowed upon him in his youth by the legendary pirate captain known as "Red-Haired" Shanks, who, in turn, had received it from Gol D. Roger. His attire consists of blue shorts with cuffs, sandals, and a sleeveless red vest. Notably, Luffy bears a distinctive scar with two stitches beneath his left eye—a testament to his determination, having inflicted the wound as a child to prove his mettle to Shanks. During the tumultuous Summit War of Marineford, he suffered grave injuries at the hands of Akainu, resulting in a prominent X-shaped scar on his chest.

Hailing from Foosha Village, Luffy boasts a lineage that connects him to two illustrious figures: his father, Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army, and his grandfather, the Marine hero Monkey D. Garp. The shared initial "D" in their names carries significant meaning. At the tender age of seven, Luffy unwittingly consumed the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Devil Fruit that transformed his body into rubber. Additionally, Shanks entrusted Luffy with the very straw hat that now defines his identity, accompanied by a promise of a future reunion once Luffy matured into a formidable pirate. Raised on Dawn Island under the care of Curly Dadan, Luffy forged deep bonds with "Fire Fist" Portgas D. Ace and the Revolutionary Chief-of-Staff Sabo, becoming their sworn brother.

At the youthful age of 19, Luffy holds a prestigious position as one of the Four Emperors, ranking among the four most formidable pirates globally. Leading the Straw Hat Pirates, he wields unparalleled authority over a diverse and mighty crew comprising numerous infamous members, many of whom possess extraordinary powers. Luffy's crewmates trust him implicitly, placing their lives in his hands despite his reckless tendencies, and in some instances, even because of them.

Luffy is also recognized as one of the "Worst Generation," a group of pirates infamous for audacious actions against the World Government, all carrying bounties exceeding 100,000,000 Beli. His indirect dominion extends to the Straw Hat Grand Fleet—a colossal assembly of seven potent New World crews, totaling 5,640 individuals, who voluntarily pledge their allegiance to him and stand ready to provide assistance at his beck and call. The World Government deems Luffy's authority akin to that of the Four Emperors, dubbing him the "Fifth Emperor."

Notably, Luffy officially attained the status of Emperor following his victory over one of the former Emperors, Kaidou. His meteoric ascent to power in just over two years sent shockwaves throughout the world. Presently, his bounty stands at 3,000,000,000 Beli, making it the lowest among the Emperors but equaling the bounties of his fellow Worst Generation members, Kid and Law. Only the bounties of the former Emperors Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaidou, fellow Emperors Shanks and Blackbeard, former Warlord Mihawk, and the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, surpass Luffy's.

Luffy's unique abilities stem from the consumption of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants him rubber-like properties. Initially struggling to control his newfound elasticity, Luffy honed his mastery over a decade on Dawn Island and further refined it during a two-year training period with Silvers Rayleigh on Rusukaina.

In a surprising twist during the Wano Country Arc, it was unveiled that Luffy's Devil Fruit is a Mythical Zoan-type: the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This transformation allows him to embody Nika, a whimsical Sun God known for liberating slaves and bringing joy to people's lives. This grants Luffy's body a rubbery composition, affording him the freedom to fight in any manner he envisions. According to the esteemed figure Shepherd Ju Peter, Nika's ability to bring smiles to others has earned Luffy the title of the "Warrior of Liberation," a power deemed the most ludicrous in the world.

Koby

Koby is a Marine Captain who, like Helmeppo, trained under Vice Admiral Garp. He is a member of SWORD, a special forces unit within the Marines. In his early days, he was a caretaker for the Alvida Pirates until he was rescued by Luffy, who later became his friend. Koby is known as a hero for his actions during the Rocky Port Incident and became a fully-fledged Marine soldier by the time of the Post-Enies Lobby Arc. In the Diary of Koby-Meppo Cover Page Serial, Koby and Helmeppo are the main characters. They are also the supporting antagonists of the Post-Enies Lobby Arc. During his initial appearance, Koby lacked any fighting skills and was only useful for his navigation abilities. However, his training under Garp and further development during the two-year timeskip has granted him immense physical strength, speed, and the ability to swim quickly. He has some knowledge of swordsmanship, which he practices with Helmeppo and Bogard.

Koby has risen to the rank of captain and is in charge of his own ship and lower-ranking Marines. He played a role in the Marines' attempt to arrest Boa Hancock, where he was one of the few Marines not turned to stone. However, he was captured by Marshall D. Teach and is currently a prisoner of the Blackbeard Pirates. While Koby possesses great strength and skill, he is no match for powerful foes like Boa Hancock or Marshall D. Teach. In Episode of Luffy, Koby demonstrated his impressive strength by shattering a massive metal disk with a single punch and easily executing Rokushiki techniques, including the Soru technique, which he learned from Vice Admiral Garp. Although he utilized Soru against Luffy twice, once in Water 7 and again at the Summit War of Marineford, it did not give him an advantage in either fight. In One Piece: Gigant Battle! 2 New World, Koby also demonstrated the ability to use Geppo and Rankyaku techniques. After the time-skip, Koby has honed his Rokushiki techniques to mastery level, even demonstrating a technique similar to Rankyaku using his arms in Episode of Luffy. He also awakened his Kenbunshoku Haki during the Summit War of Marineford, allowing him to sense the deaths of combatants around him. Since then, he has developed his Kenbunshoku Haki to an advanced level, as demonstrated by his ability to detect a torpedo heading towards a ship from a distance and sense Kyros's immense strength upon first meeting him.

Furthermore, Koby possesses the ability to use Busoshoku Haki. Following the Seven Warlords of the Sea system's abolition, Koby embarked on a mission to capture Boa Hancock in Amazon Lily. En route, he contacted X Drake through the Den Den Mushi, who informed him of the newly formed alliance between Kaido and Big Mom and CP0's arrival in Wano Country. With the aid of the new Seraphim, the Marines battled their way into Amazon Lily. However, when the Blackbeard Pirates also launched an invasion, Koby ordered S-Hawk to cease fire as it endangered the Marines. Despite Koby's demand that Hancock surrender to the Marines, the Empress refused and attacked, petrifying most of the Marines and pirates present. Teach took advantage of the situation and seized Hancock, neutralizing her powers. Although Koby attempted to negotiate Hancock's release, Teach refused to trust her, and Silvers Rayleigh intervened as a mediator. Eventually, Hancock was freed and restored the petrified individuals. The Marines and Blackbeard Pirates departed from the island, but news later surfaced that the Blackbeard Pirates had abducted Koby.
