Justice League: Zack Snyder’s Cut Could Be Longer Than 214 minutes

Zack Snyder, director of Justice League, has revealed that the film’s upcoming “Snyder Cut” re-release will have a runtime of more than 214 minutes. The filmmaker had previously suggested that he wanted the film to last that long (over three and a half hours), while support was growing among the 2017 film’s fanbase for Warner Bros to release the hypothetical Snyder Cut.

Snyder is currently re-editing the film at great expense for the US streaming service HBO Max. Reports have suggested the undertaking could cost between $20m and $30m to complete.

What Zack Snyder has to say on extending Justice League’s cut?

Snyder said Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Randolph that he famously advertised the runtime at 214 minutes, and now in its current state, it’s going to end up being longer than that yet. It will be exciting to bring all this new material to the fans. The theatrical release of Justice League, directed by Joss Whedon, had a runtime of just 120 minutes.

At more than 214 minutes long, the Snyder Cut will be longer than Martin Scorsese’s three and a half-hour gangster epic The Irishman, the length of which was a ubiquitous talking point throughout last year’s awards season. While this will place Justice League among the lengthiest blockbuster films that Hollywood has produced, it’s still a long way off the record holder.

Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz is renowned for his consistently slow and lengthy films, with some of his movies lasting for as many as eight, nine, and over 10 hours.

Last year, a Bangladeshi film The Innocence broke records for a theatrically release with its eye-watering runtime of more than 21 hours. 21 hours is such a long time though, how can someone watch it continuously?
