"Mountain Beard" Jarul is a giant and the former co-captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, alongside his long-time companion, Jorul. Known as a hero among giants, Jarul has become the oldest giant in the world following Jorul's death. As a giant, he towers over ordinary humans. Jarul is easily recognizable by his Viking helmet adorned with curved horns and a massive beard that resembles a mountain, covering much of his body. He typically wears a dark feather coat.
After Jorul's passing, Jarul suffered a severe injury when a sword was driven through his forehead, with his helmet providing the only protection. He holds militarism in high regard, often reminding the young giants of Elbaf that they are warriors above all else. Despite his dedication to militarism, Jarul is open-minded and accepted Carmel's ideology of pacifism, advocating for commerce over plunder. He deeply values camaraderie and beliefs, mourning the loss of his lifelong friend, Jorul. He felt that if Jorul had died in battle, it would have been honorable, which is why he could not forgive Charlotte Linlin for taking Jorul's life in such a disgraceful manner. However, his respect for Carmel led him to reluctantly spare the life of a little girl, allowing her and her companions to leave.
Jarul has a distinctive laugh that echoes with "Bojajaja." As a former captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, he is an exceptionally powerful warrior, earning immense respect from fellow giants, including Hajrudin, who admires him greatly. With remarkable longevity, Jarul is currently 408 years old. He has demonstrated extraordinary resilience, having survived a sword piercing through his head, attributing his survival to his helmet.
In his past, Jarul wielded a longsword and attempted to confront a sleeping Charlotte Linlin. Alongside Jorul, he captained the Giant Warrior Pirates for three centuries before stepping down, passing the title to Dorry and Brogy.
Sixty-three years prior to the present day, Jarul and Jorul traveled to Warland Village on Elbaf to partake in a feast with the residents of Sheep's House in celebration of the Winter Solstice Festival. They praised Raideen for training Hajrudin to become a formidable warrior. The feast featured the villagers enjoying semla.
During the seventh day of a 12-day fast, a catastrophic event unfolded when Linlin wreaked havoc on an Elbaf village due to her cravings, fatally injuring Jorul. The giants managed to soothe Linlin by offering her semla. When she fell asleep, Jarul prepared to retaliate against her, but Carmel intervened, pleading for Jarul to spare Linlin's life on the condition that she would leave Elbaf. Jarul begrudgingly accepted Carmel's terms and angrily ordered her to depart. He later paid his respects at the graves of Jorul and several other giants.
Jarul remains alive in the present day and has attended gatherings honoring the Straw Hat Pirates, celebrating the legacy of his successors and friends.
