Imu seems to be on some kind of limit with being outside of the holy land, i'm betting luffy and loki will be pushed to their limits against imu and only saved in the end by imu being forced to leave.

That said, luffy seems pretty confident he can win when he gets back out there. I just can't imagine imu losing now without the navy there to see it or the world watching.  The time limit is the key, but i'm wondering will imu lose himself more while fighting luffy in g5.  

I can imagine imu complaining about joyboy and luffy calling imu stupid because imu keeps calling him joyboy. Luffy will get irritated and imu will spazz out opening himself up for a hit. Luffy did not seem confident at all, he was like "i gotta eat as much as i can or else we can't win!". Makes me think maybe his need to eat is tied to a past failure. Eating for instant-power is just how luffy's "funny body" works. It doesn't make sense to most other people in the world. With nika in mind, we can understand that it probably works this way because luffy is the kind of kid who would enjoy reading shonen comic books and superhero stories, in which the heroes use some great wonderful power but it comes with a severe drawback. We saw this as far back as gear 3, he suffered the drawback of turning tiny after using it. Then, after using it a few times in battle, that drawback completely disappeared forever. Because in luffy's mind he had "trained" hard enough by that point that he had mastered it.

Nika shriveling him up is the same thing. Pretty soon we'll probably see him decide he's practiced his skill enough to not be affected by the "downside" anymore. This chapter is setting up more reveals about imu and joyboy’s past, hopefully our first proper look at void century events will be soon! Can’t wait!  Vegapunk might've been right insofar that the true causes of this void century-present day way aren't black and white.

Even if joyboy was mostly right and imu mostly wrong, perhaps there were a few things that both of them got wrong and right, respectively. Maybe joyboy and imu shared beliefs and one of them flipped beliefs for currently unknown reasons.
