The ‘Ghost of Yōtei: Legends’ DLC Arrives in 2026

Sucker Punch Productions has officially announced that Ghost of Yōtei: Legends will release in 2026, following the base game’s launch on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The reveal came during the gamescom 2025 opening showcase, with further details shared on PlayStation.Blog.

A Supernatural Twist on Ghost of Yōtei

Unlike the grounded historical setting of the main game, Legends embraces a more mystical and eerie direction. The expansion will feature:

  • Two-player co-op story missions with narrative-driven objectives.

  • Four-player survival modes where teams face waves of enemies.

  • Four unique classes to choose from, each offering distinct combat abilities.

  • Boss battles against “demonic, giant versions” of the Yōtei Six and their fearsome allies.

This shift mirrors the approach of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (2020), which blended Japanese folklore with intense cooperative gameplay.

Free for Ghost of Yōtei Owners

Just like its predecessor, the Legends DLC will be free for all Ghost of Yōtei players—making it an easy gateway into supernatural samurai action for fans of both solo and multiplayer playstyles.

Trivia: Ghost of Yōtei & Legends

  • The “Legends” brand is now a staple for Sucker Punch, following its success with Ghost of Tsushima. Fans praised the 2020 version so much that it was expanded into a standalone mode.

  • Yōtei, also known as Mount Yōtei, is sometimes referred to as “Ezo Fuji” or “Hokkaido’s Mt. Fuji” due to its resemblance to Japan’s most iconic mountain. Its mystical aura makes it a fitting backdrop for folklore-inspired battles.

  • In Japanese mythology, supernatural warriors often take on oni (demons) and yōkai, which strongly influence the designs of Legends’ enemies.

Tekken’s Kazuya is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo has announced that Kayuza from the Tekken fighting games will be the latest character to join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at its E3 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation. Additional details are promised at a future presentation on June 28th. The character marks the latest classic fighting game character to join Nintendo’s flagship fighter, joining characters like Street Fighter’s Ryu or Fatal Fury’s Terry Bogard. Kazuya is the fifth DLC character to be added to Super Smash Bros.

Ultimate’s second Fighters Pass. Previous additions included Min Min from Arms, Minecraft mascots Steve and Alex, Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Pyra and Mythra (the two count as a single character) released in February. The Fighters Pass costs $29.99 for six characters, with a final character who, barring any changes, will be the last fighter added to Smash Bros. Ultimate who should be announced later this year. Players who don’t want the full collection can also pay $5.99 for each character individually. Smash Bros. Ultimate also still has its original Fighters Pass, which costs $24.99 and includes five additional characters: Joker from Persona 5, Hero from Dragon Quest, Banjo and Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie, Terry Bogard from The King of Fighters, and Byleth from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Character to Be Revealed Next Week

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next DLC character will be revealed on June 22nd, Nintendo announced this week. The character will be presented by game director Masahiro Sakurai just as the other DLC characters have been announced and will have its moves and design featured in about 35 minutes worth of gameplay footage and commentary. Nintendo also clarified that the livestream for the next DLC character will only pertain to that character and no other fighter reveals, so anyone already hoping to see more than just one DLC reveal can go ahead and temper their expectations before next week’s big event.

As a reminder for those who’ll be tuning into next week’s event, the next DLC character to be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one from ARMS, the fighting game on Nintendo’s platform where players control a roster of characters outfitted with stretchy appendages and unique abilities. We knew from Nintendo’s previous announcement that the character would be from ARMS, but Sakurai didn’t say which character it would be.

That doesn’t mean players are without their suspicions though. Ever since the ARMS addition was announced months ago, players have been debating which character from the game they think should be added. Twintelle, Spring Man, and Min Min have been popular suggestions, but there’s been no indication of who it’ll be through leaks or otherwise.

Even though there won’t be reveals for other DLC fighters, if the chosen combatant is Spring Man, the reveal gives hope for another fan-favorite character: Waluigi. Spring Man is currently just a Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which historically has meant the character wouldn’t be an actual playable fighter, but Nintendo put forward the blue-haired poster boy of ARMS as a possibility. If he can ascend from Spirit status to actually be playable, so can others like Waluigi.

That’s assuming he’s picked at all though. A total of 15 characters were shown in the graphic above shared by Nintendo months ago, so it could be any of them. It could even be multiple characters if Nintendo decides to pull off some sort of several-in-one DLC again, but we’ll have to wait until June 22nd to find out what the plan is.
