Every year Nike (NYSE:NKE +1.46%) will make the executive decision to bring back classic Air Max colorways from the vault. 2021 marked the glorious return of the Nike Air Max BW “Persian Violet”, and as the Swoosh has a tendency of doing, it distributes this palette to other silhouettes within the Nike Sportswear catalog.
The “Persian Violet” motif has already been seen on the Nike Air Max 97 and the Air Tuned Max, and now it’s made an official appearance on the Air Max 90. Unlike its muse, this latest offering reverses the color-coordination and utilizes its titular tone to splash onto the leather side Swooshes, eye stays, Air Max lateral branding and overlays that sit at the bottom of the throat. The leather materials that form the front of the shoe and the mid-foot as well as the mesh collars contrast with white, while the suede mudguards, mesh toe boxes, forefoot eye stays and interior liners are dyed in black. Midsoles go for the yin and yang aesthetic and split between black and white paint, the latter section of which hosts a translucent Air unit. Nike Japan has these available right now for ¥13,200 (approx. $120 USD).
