Yo, what a wild ride this chapter was! After the insane setup from the previous one, 1182 delivers non-stop action, big power reveals, and that classic One Piece mix of hype battles and underlying tension. Oda (or whoever cooked this up) really went for the throat this time. Let's break it down.
The chapter opens strong with Loki teaming up with Ragnir, combining lightning and ice in a devastating series of attacks. We're talking thunderous strikes mixed with freezing barrages it looked absolutely beautiful in the panels. But Imu isn't playing around and counters with massive fireballs that light up the sky. The elemental chaos is off the charts. On the other side of the battlefield, we finally get confirmation that Sommers and Kilingham are on another level. Sommers casually carrying a giant ship on his back like it's nothing?
Positive Impacts
Power Scaling & Hype: This chapter does wonders for world-building. Showing Sommers' casual ship-carrying strength and Zaza's village-flooding power raises the stakes massively. It makes the threats feel real and the World Government's hidden forces terrifying.
Teamwork & Character Moments: Loki + Ragnir
combo was chef's kiss. And seeing Zoro & Sanji still standing (even
if hurt) gives that classic "our crew doesn't quit" vibe that makes One
Piece special.
Visuals: The elemental clashes (lightning/ice vs fire) and Zaza's rain destruction probably looked insane in the official release. Peak Oda-level spectacle.
Story Momentum: Keeps the invasion arc moving at a breakneck pace while teasing bigger players (Imu, world government fears).
Negative Impacts / Criticisms
Pacing Felt a Bit Rushed: So many big reveals (Zaza, Sommers' strength, the kidnapping plan) dropped in one chapter. Some moments could've used more breathing room or emotional buildup, especially for a character like Zaza who's apparently a huge deal to the World Government.
Sanji & Zoro's Condition: They're up, but it feels a tad convenient after how brutal the previous beatings looked. A bit more focus on their injuries or recovery (maybe a quick flashback or internal monologue) would've made their "not defeated yet" stance hit harder.
Imu's Counter: The fireballs were cool but felt a little generic compared to the creative lightning-ice combos. Imu is such a mysterious figure I wanted something more unique or lore-heavy from them.
Kidnapping Plot: While tense, it risks feeling repetitive if we've seen similar hostage/kidnapping angles before in the arc.
Overall score: 8.7/10.
It's a solid action-heavy chapter that delivers on hype but could've slowed down just a touch for better emotional weight. Some TriviaThis is one of the rare times we see a "dream fear" manifestation used as a weapon (Kilingham's MMA/Zaza). Might tie into future Haki or devil fruit awakening themes?
Sommers carrying the giant ship solo
is a subtle nod to old giant pirate legends in the One Piece world
reminds me of some Elbaf lore drops. Zaza being feared most by
the World Government? That's huge. Could hint she's connected to
ancient weapons, Void Century secrets, or even a rival to certain
celestial forces. Book your bets now.
Are you guys caught up?

Holy crap, Imu gave those losers really serious upgrades. Also really? Imu could do literally ANYTHING else but he still insist on kidnapping children? Guess he really want them to replace slaves that escaped during RA attack. I mean what else they could be used for once Holy Knights would successfully take them away. Anyway so, the rain goddess is named Zaza and obviously is a woman. Good to finally know at least this about one of Gods that were mentioned all the way in Skypea arc. Let's hope Zoro and Sanji still have enough stranght to take care of those jerks. And I hope Luffy is ready to jump back into action because things dosen't look too good for Loki and he deffinetly need some support. Btw, could Zaza being mentioned be some forshadowing about Dragon finally doing something? Because he seem to be tied to rain and wind ever since Louge Town.
Ok with the addition of this rain god and being able to make it rain (lol), could Luffy make it... Sun? We have seen him accessing this form awoke Emet meaning his energy was power for it. The one piece might well and truly be the sun of the previous Nika fruit user left for the next user. Or a piece of it.
So the hint was right, there was info on the gods? Who will handle the Rain God MMA? the other straw hats?
Still pissed of (but not suprised) that Sanji was wrecked again last time (Zoro is more acceptble, becuase his humilation is almost never done as bad) but still, is Oda just teasing us or will these two Wings FINALLY fight these Holy Knights for real? If Conquerer is still needed then Oda better make it so that both of them and not just one channel it. if destroying these Holy Knights is what is needed to somehow weaken Imu then thats all the better. If they all can survve that long.
Well as the story unfolds this is starting to resemble Naruto more and more. Very typical shounen fare I guess with the main character being a chosen/destined one. Godly enemies and powers are taking over the story too. I just hope we don't get any dead characters coming back or a new enemy coming out of no where.
I think people here overestimating word "God" here. Luffy has god devil fruit and what? It's just slighty more creative with it's power then most of other devil fruits. Hell I think Ope Ope no mi and Paw Paw no mi are more godly then Luffy's cartoon power.
I respect the opinion of those who aren't enjoying the direction things are taking, but honestly, I can't understand the whole 'One Piece was never about gods and blah blah blah' argument. One Piece was never truly focused on 'piracy'—in fact, that is one of the main ironies of the series: being a pirate in a world where you can accidentally eat a magic fruit that literally gives you the power of a god, but in exchange, you can never swim again and the sea hates you. Mind you, this is a story where most of the people eating these fruits are the very 'pirates' who, by common sense, shouldn't eat them, otherwise they might drown.
From the very beginning of the series, we were introduced to a world where 'Devil Fruits' exist—so what’s the surprise in having 6, 7, or even several 'gods'? Ever since Luffy entered the Grand Line, he has only faced bizarre people with 'divine' powers: a sand-man capable of causing droughts and deserts who is completely intangible; a lightning-man who thought he was a god and went to the moon. So, if you’re going to appeal to 'nostalgia,' please realize that One Piece has been presenting the SAME story for over 30 years!
The point has always been that both WE and the characters we follow are discovering the world together. Because it’s been 30 years for us, it might seem like Oda has lost his mind, but since the first 200 chapters, all of this was already there. It’s not even just 'foreshadowing'—the demons, the powers, the gods, etc.—so stop acting like Oda ruined the story. Honestly, if you want to see a story about 'pirates,' go watch Pirates of the Caribbean, because One Piece has always used the 'piracy' theme as a backdrop. We haven't had a single naval battle or anything of the sort in 30 years. One Piece has always been epic precisely because of these MAGIC and DIVINE powers that HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED—Oda is just finally calling them by their names now!
And no - he isnt doing what Toriyama did to DBZ in Freeza Saga - im sure that all this idea of him already existed - that leaked thing about the end of manga that appeared on 2015 - at least since then Oda already had a idea thst the final fight would be Luffy against the demon king of the W.G - and he is beeing driving the story to a point where Luffy could meet this person withouht getting himself KILLED - And what happened in sabaody is the explanation - Oda created long ago strong people, and to justify that our MC isnt a "allmight", he lost to people that was the strongest at that time, like how the fuck Oda should show us the king of the world, the gods okf this world, if our MC couldn't beat a younkou before ?
Anyway, i follow this history for 15 years now - since Marineford - and there, we're introduced to a man who could make quakes, and destroy the world - so - having God's and Demons for me, it's only the natural scale of things and the truth about this world!
So presenting the world's cosmogony to the reader is that what's going to kill one piece? Reading the comments, it sounds like it'd be better if oda never revealed to anyone what the one piece is. I reasonably understand the 'fear' you guys are referring to, but introducing 'gods' into a magical world doesn't seem wrong to me at all. I really feel like i'm reading a completely different story, because to me, one piece has always been about the 'chosen one' bringing freedom; inherited will and the endless dreams of men is just a different way of talking about the subject.
The thing is, oda never treated this as the main focus but you just have to revisit marineford and whitebeard's words. Destiny exists, and the war that will happen at the end was predicted a long time ago. Ever since back then, oda made it clear that someone, destined to carry the weight of 800 years of history, was going to turn the world upside down and blackbeard is not that person that is destiny!
Definitely starting to be less unique and more like standard shounen. I guess its just a cultural thing and all of them end up going this direction by the end. Naruto went from hard work to he was destined to become god like, Ichigo went from random human that ended up turning Shinigami to he was the culmination of the ultimate experiment to create the ultimate hybrid being who again ends up fighting against a god (Ywach & maybe transformed Aizen), and now we have Luffy kind of going through the same treatment. These authors can't seem to escape these tropes. Even in AoT Eren was destined to become what he became, although it was done more uniquely in that he created a time loop himself to make himself destined.
Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Dragon has a mythical zoan fruit at this point. One that controls the weather instead of him just being a wind logia like we've all been guessing for years. Maybe he'll have a Susanoo model fruit.
My hypothesis is that we might have one god for every celestial body surrounding Bluestar—and that would explain everything, from the First World to the present day.
I believe that 'everyone' [the masses] fell victim to the first great sin committed by the people who descended from the sky! The slaves of the First World were the mythological beings that existed here—the exuberant fauna and flora, and the native peoples—and they sought to extract the 'One Piece' from within the planet to create the 'Dream Fruits.' The gods, in turn, were either imprisoned OR hid themselves within the fruits through 'Inherited Will' at some point. Mu might have been the first to do this when they saw the world would be flooded.
3 - Good question—but I think Lili played some role among the heirs of the gods of the Second World, and I bet Joyboy also had some divine heritage. Perhaps not everything is a 'fruit,' for example Poseidon and Pluton, which I believe are on that same power level—Ancient Weapons.
And yes, I think depending on how Oda chooses his words, Dragon is indeed the current God of Rain. In my opinion, that would be the only way to bring the 'old man' back into the hype and do him justice. Maybe he doesn't have a 'fruit' himself, but rather has Zaza as a 'familiar' just like Nami has Zeus—who knows... but either way, that’s my bet.
The idea that the celestial dragons were told stories to scare them as kids - will of d, nika, rain god is the most shocking revelation of the spoilers.
I mean when and why did they learn fear? Aren't they all basically entitled pos? Do CD grow up knowing Imu exists either? Is that scary or comforting?
I wonder if their air bubbles / dive suits will be retconned to be like protection from the rain rather than not breathing the same air.
I already have my hypothesis - The world of One Piece - Blue Star - was inhabited by 'magical' races, ancient giants, ancient Tontattas, ancient Lunarians - Blue Star was a remarkable world due to its size and the abundant amount of resources - after all, it is a planet with several celestial bodies orbiting around it, a world where 70 - 80m creatures were common - until, coming from the outermost moon towards the center of the planet 'vert', an alien race of demi-humans began to advance and secretly consume the resources until they finally landed on the blue planet - that was when the Sky Era began - in the year 239 Kahira had already conquered up to the ancient city of Alabasta.
They began to multiply and enslave the peoples of this land, forcing them to work in the deep veins of the planet in an attempt to extract the 'One Piece' - the limitless energy source that fuels the stars, capable of granting the power and energy needed to achieve anything!
The God of the Earth, Blue Star - Mu - enraged, summoned the infernal serpent from the depths of the Abyss - and destroyed the first world - however - he ended up clashing directly with the God who had just been born from the desires of the people, Nika the Sun God - because Mu's revenge would devastate everyone's lives, despite protecting the planet, which is why Mu triggered Nidhog - The God of War who fought against Nika in the first world - but Mu managed to destroy the invaders - Zaza, enraged by the blood that began to condense in the heavy rain clouds - such was the scale of the massacre - decided to flood the entire face of the earth - that was when the first heirs of the D. Clan managed to escape for the first time. - and after many years, they reestablished themselves as the Kingdom of D.
However, during the 500 years that passed, the longing for the One Piece led the old kingdom to study ways to summon the ancestral forces once again - and the God of the Forest released the demons for the first time - these were the first Akuma no Mi (Devil Fruit) users - all derived from the first one, the Devil Fruit in which Mu was sealed at the end of the first world!
The One Piece is a treasure that can only be inherited by one who understands the Voice of All Things, and is able to manifest their will (ki) to interfere with the Destiny of the world - there was a great race for the One Piece in the past - which led to the formation of the first 'pirates' - whose name was acquired after everyone realized that it was theft - the strongest, all together heading in a single direction. - Dayve D. Jones; JoyBoy; Nerona Imu; Emeth .
The D. clan are well know for bein able to manifest Destiny - and because that they can make Dreams come true - or be true Devils in the earth - after all they can all hear the Voice of All Things- because they we're the first son's of bluestar - and it's because of this that they always die with a smile in the face, because Destiny itself will carry they will forever.
I got to that spoiler about Gunko being dead. What if they think she's dead because she's still in ice? Because I don't think Killingham would be nice enough to cover for her if she tried to do something against Imus will. Holy Knights aren't kind even to one another after all, they basicaly rival each other. Also Killingham deffinetly noticed damages made by Imus fire but mayby it still couldn't melt Ragnirs ice so seeing this he thought she's dead. After all without knowing how this work you could think she was killed by that ice.
