Unveiling the LEGO x Nike Dunk Low: A Sneaker Collaboration Like No Other

It has been nearly a month since LEGO and Nike unveiled their inaugural product range, which includes the Dunk High in LEGO form and a collaborative version of the Nike Dunk Low. The initial teaser showcased a glossy upper that deviates from the Dunk’s traditional overlays, opting instead for a trompe l’oeil finish. Now, a complete set of official images provides a clearer glimpse of what to expect from this kids’-exclusive sneaker.

Design Features

The sneaker boasts a striking black-on-white upper adorned with the LEGO logo on the tongue and the collaborative logo at the heel. Co-branding is also evident on the sockliner and within the unique packaging. The release is scheduled for September 1, available exclusively in kids’ sizes, and will retail for $120 USD.

Ongoing Partnership

Since the beginning of the year, the partnership between LEGO and Nike has been a focal point for sneaker enthusiasts. As May draws to a close, the two brands have introduced their first set of products, which includes a 1,180-piece set that recreates the Dunk High and LEGO-themed footwear.

Earlier this week, we previewed the kid-exclusive LEGO x Nike Air Max Dn in "Tour Yellow." In addition to this release, the duo has also teased the Nike Dunk Low collaboration. The one-image preview features a unique one-piece upper, with comic-style overlays that appear to be "drawn" onto the sneaker, providing a striking contrast against the glossy white base. As with the Air Max Dn, LEGO branding appears prominently on the tongue tag.

Release Plans

Nike has outlined its release strategy for the initial rollout of this exciting partnership. The Nike Dunk LEGO set is set to launch at the beginning of July, followed by the LEGO x Nike Air Max Dn in early August. The LEGO x Nike Dunk Low is expected to hit shelves on September 1, likely as a kids-exclusive.

Nike Dunk Low Appears With a Navy and Teal Palette

Of all the silhouettes in Nike‘s cannon, there aren’t any that have as strong of momentum as the Dunk. General releases and collaborative offerings of the classic model continue to flood the sneaker market every month, and now the Swoosh team is adding this teal and navy colorway to its catalog. Uppers of this lifestyle-centric iteration comes fashioned with leather uppers, but the overlays and underlays differentiate in texture.

The former comes fashioned with tumbled leather and matches up with the Swooshes, interior linings and the laces. Toe boxes, quarter panels, tongues and collars all come formed with smoother leathers and submerged in a muted teal tone. Branding arrives in its usual spots such as the tongues, insoles and heels. Down below, the midsoles are formed with angelic finishes and arrive stacked above solid black treading. Check out this Nike Dunk Low‘s official images in the gallery above and expect Nike and select retailers to release these in the coming months.

Nike Dunk Low Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 Concept is LIT

For its latest project, sneaker customizer no-brainer* has conceptualized a special-edition Nike Dunk Low based on protagonist Takumi Fujiwara’s cult-favorite daily driver from Initial D. Taking elements from the Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 that served as the delivery car for Fujiwara Tofu Shop, the Dunk Low concept features black and white leather uppers with a purple panel on the heel and an orange tag on the end of the Swoosh resembling the car’s blinkers.

The shop name is printed in Japanese on the lateral heel counter, and the license plate is etched in green on the rear of the white midsoles. Classic black rubber outsoles complete the tribute design. While these pairs have been presented as a concept and are not yet available, BAIT worked with the Initial D team and adidas last year to craft an official AE86-inspired Nizza Hi which is available in secondary markets. Take a closer look at the inspirations behind the no-brainer* AE86 Dunk design below.

Sneak Peak at the Nike Dunk Low "Paisley Pack"

If you think that Nike ran the numbers up for its classic Dunk model in 2021, then you should probably brace yourself because a multitude of new colorways are already being prepared to arrive on the market in 2022. Among them is this forthcoming Nike Dunk Low “Paisley Pack” which as of now, appears to involve a duo of new iterations.
One of the renditions is treated with a baby blue and white color palette while the skews to the darker side of the spectrum thanks to its forest green and white schemes. The former bears clean white paneling for the toe boxes, collars and quarters while a cool shade of blue tumbles onto the overlays. Bandana-like graphics and tiny flower silhouettes outfit the Swooshes and heels for extra flair. Midsoles are untouched in terms of a color coating and come stacked above an outsole that’s dialed to a darker tone of blue.
Its release sibling is essentially styled in the same fashion, just with a different blend of hues. Angelic finishes are applied to the toe boxes, quarters and collars while the accompanying overlays are doused with a forest green-like skin. All-over paisley patterns stand out across the Swooshes and rear end as well. You can likely expect these to drop in the coming months, and note that there’s also a possibility that more colorways could be unveiled down the road. Elsewhere in the sneaker world, the Nike SB Dunk High Pro ISO “Kentucky” has been revealed.
