So one of the most interesting parts of the Elbaf arc is that it gives us a pretty good overview of the history of piracy post-void century. We can speculate that Giants and Ancient Giants ruled the seas, especially in the New World up until about 102 years ago when that little girl asked Dorry and Brogy about which sealing was bigger. That set into motion many things that led directly to the modern age of piracy. The only other event we know of before this time is the voyage of Noland circa 400 years ago. After that, we know some about Harald’s travels, Big Mom’s youth, and the Rumbar Pirates setting sail. With Rock’s crew, and the fairly recent (~49 yr) history of Pirate Island, we now have a more solid view of the recent history. Rocks’ rise and fall directly led to the Pirate King, Emperors, and likely Warlord system to combat them. The idea of Emperors in the New World is no more than 37 years old. And if that’s the case, the Warlord system is likely even more recent than that. It’s even likely that some of the Warlords at the beginning of the story were a part of the original group (plus Hanafuda). It is fascinating that we have a more concrete timeline of events.
