Also i don't think its a coincidence we get a god valley reference here, i think there has to be something about the west blue that imu is interested in. Maybe the west blue is just where they think the entirety of the davy clan resides, so they're trying to commit some wide scale ethnic cleansing?
Actually this flashback predates god valley right? So that means that not only is esperia going through this but there was another country in the west blue that also disappeared, and then later down the line the same thing happens in god valley.
There is something going on with the west blue. Candel suddenly become sick after the stress from tenryubito made me think that shuri is not really leuven's daughter. Leuven might have married candel in order to hide her out of wedlock pregnancy. The thing that nails the theory for me is reuven's insistence "i am your daddy, why don't you love me that way". It turns a gag into an absolutely diabolical twist of the knife.
That said, one piece always loves the "he may be your father, but i am your daddy" with whitebeard and kuma. And reuven is a real one.
On one hand it's a little repetitive as we just did this with bonney. On the other, really cements the wg as evil. You wouldn't say, "you can't sexually assault someone else, because that other guy already sexually assaulted someone, that'd be cliche."
