I mean, he also made a kid kill their father while one of them was being controled by imu twice in this arc.
I think oda may do this to show that this is not a one time thing in the one piece world, it happens all the time and it's one of the many reason why the celestial dragons must be erased from the world. Its used differently so that's fine to me.
In the kuma flashback it was a major point because it made clear that the daughter the man was sacrificing his life for ain't even his own, which amplified the tragedy of the whole situation
While this time around it feels like it's moreso used to illustrate the cruelty of the celestial dragon's.
Taking both together, it does show however that what happened to ginny is a regular occurrence in mariejois, which makes my hatred for the celestial dragon's grow to levels i didn't thought were possible. If this is true, then i really hope when shuri becomes free, she would have an interaction with bonney. Bonney knows exactly the anguish and gratitude of knowing you were born from an evil act but having great father that stepped up. She has to be the one to comfort shuri aside from brook.
