They're both in the west blue, never mentioned until this chapter, and the song is all about defying the world government and referencing the other nations that did so successfully (wano, elbaf). Imu was able to summon mist in god valley too, and this could have been an attack from the celestian dragons demanding leuven to hand over both his wife and daughter, but he refused. Sure enough as a result of this toxic mist, esperia ends impoverished and unable to pay the heavenly tribute, and the world government then demands the hand over of one thousand slaves, the practice in itself is deplorable, but remember that esperia is fresh out of having lost tens of thousands to the mist

They are short on everything, including people, losing another thousand would effectively kill the kingdom, with the survivors being doomed to be slaves in marijoa, in effect this is a death sentence. Leuven decides that they wont succumb to such unjust demands, and decides to fight back, brook uses the power of music to lift the spirits of his people, and they actually end up putting a pretty good fight but...

At the very core of the palace in the throne room, we see a god's knight, who looks to be st marcus mars possessed by imu, and a domi reversed leuven and shuri... Leuven lies dead on the floor, it all hints dead at the hands of his own daughter. Now why in the 4 seas would a god knight, mars, and imu out of all people, bother to go down into the mortal realm, and visit esperia a kingdom who is on the verge of collapse? This is overkill, unless... Turns out that they went there for shuri specifically.

So why would shuri and esperia be special even if her real dad is a celestial dragons? As we saw with god valley and shaki just being a beautiful woman is not enough reason to mobilize both an elder and a gods knight, and as we saw with shank's mother, gods knight's are able to kidnap their kids back by themselves. Another theory going around is that esperia, and more specifically the royal family of esperia, are descendants of the davy family, this is a theory that was flown around the moment leuven's design was shown, and seeing these developments it is gaining traction because this is too much strength being mobilized just for one country in the west blue.

This attack could be the result of imu wanting to check if candelle's and leuven's daughter inherited his will or the will of davy. Seeing how the winner of the duel to the death was shuri, chances are leuven managed to resist imu's corruption and refused to attack his daughter, something that not even rock's himself was fully able to do.

This flashback has been fantastic and is bound to get better and pay dividends once brook gets a chances to talk more with either gunko or imu, this is the kind of stuff that just a fight wont give you.
