God's valley incident reminds me of homer's troy. The trojan war, the legendary conflict in ancient greece, also happened over a woman. Helen, known as the most beautiful woman in greece, was taken to troy by paris, a trojan prince. This prompted menelaus, the king of sparta, to seek help from other greek kings, ultimately leading to the destruction of troy. Oda loves his mythology references, he did a lot of heracles references in oden flashback. So the flashback is now 42 years ago and blackbeard is 40 years old.
I wonder if we will get to see who his mother is. I really hope it´s not shakky. That will be interesting to see, rocks will probably meet his mother in one of their raids. Gloriosa would be a more reasonable pairing age-wise. I can see her jealousy of shakky's popularity leading to some kind of fling with rocks to prove she's as attractive as shakky is.
If blackbeard's mom is one of those two, then I'm pretty sure his kuja heritage is the special bloodline the gorosei were talking about way back when. And I'd be fully on board with the theory that luffy's mom is tritoma.
