I mean shakky is a genius for doing this though. She’s basically guaranteed safe from anyone dumb enough to try to claim her bounty and even if the wg goes after her there will be retribution for it. Rough for her and the rocks pirates that the world government wanted that retribution to happen.
I feel like oda really missed the chance to show harald having some positive interactions with the government.
As it stands, his desire to join the world government seems completely unjustified and unreasonable. Since all his interactions with them have involved celestial dragon’s trying to turn him into a slave or stuffed animal, or them frustrating his efforts to cooperate with other countries, or them outright victimizing the countries who have already become elbaph’s allies.
An offhand remark about meeting garp and thinking he was cool just isn’t gonna cut it.
Everything the wg has shown of itself to harald so far should clearly tell him that they are an obstacle to fair and mutually beneficial international cooperation more than anything else. Hm, I don't see harald screwing over rocks, he has devotion to his people but also is honorable, won't sell out rocks like that.. And obviously they're still not a member nation maybe refusing is what led to his assassination, even though that was decades later.
I absolutely love seeing all the yonko in their youth, funny how through oden and rocks we end up seeing all of whitebeards backstory by proxy
