I mean shakky is a genius for doing this though. She’s basically guaranteed safe from anyone dumb enough to try to claim her bounty and even if the wg goes after her there will be retribution for it. Rough for her and the rocks pirates that the world government wanted that retribution to happen. I feel like oda really missed the chance to show harald having some positive interactions with the government. As it stands, his desire to join the world government seems completely unjustified and unreasonable. Since all his interactions with them have involved celestial dragon’s trying to turn him into a slave or stuffed animal, or them frustrating his efforts to cooperate with other countries, or them outright victimizing the countries who have already become elbaph’s allies. An offhand remark about meeting garp and thinking he was cool just isn’t gonna cut it. 

 

Everything the wg has shown of itself to harald so far should clearly tell him that they are an obstacle to fair and mutually beneficial international cooperation more than anything else. His stubborn desire to join them just comes off as completely irrational. The crown jewel of hachinou. Can't believe that the theory turned out to be real all this time later. How does rocks end up getting screwed over. Roger doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd team up just to beat someone, so something must have happened to rocks where they had no choice but to kill him together. Imu shenanigans is what it sounds like. Harald probably discovered imu somehow and also got reversed. Hence leading to loki killing him. Harald blunder was discovering the existence of imu perhaps? So thats the one of the two crown jewels of pirate island they went to god valley to recover. We assumed it was a devil fruit, like the nikyu. So that's why rocks showed up to god valley, and possibly why roger did too is shakky the helen of troy that kicks off the incident. Add in the world nobles slave hunt and garp, along with baby shanks and buggy, can't wait to see how it all actually went down. Hm, I don't see harald screwing over rocks, he has devotion to his people but also is honorable, won't sell out rocks like that.. And obviously they're still not a member nation maybe refusing is what led to his assassination, even though that was decades later. I absolutely love seeing all the yonko in their youth, funny how through oden and rocks we end up seeing all of whitebeards backstory by proxy

So gloriosa didn't join rocks crew in a davy back fight, she's not there for whitebeard or we'd see her fight with stussy for her comment about whitbeard loving her, she's not there for shaky because she came to hachinosu after gloriosa joined rocks, she's not there for roger because that wouldn't make sense so why did she join? Big mom literally said that gloriosa left the kuja to chase after a man, and as far as we know, that man is roger. So I personally think that joining the rocks and hoping to meet roger in battle is the best way she could think of to approach him. I like the friendship between harald and rocks. 

 

Harald knows rocks is a scumbag, but he still lets him come back to elbaf to chill. Rocks has his own agenda, but does genuinely like harald and doesn't want to cause harm. We know harald either refused to or failed to kill rocks due to elbaf's status in the current story. A glorious golden age of flashback chapters, it ain't letting me down yet! So finally a normal cover page. So I guess we're assuming it's ushimaru; right? His body wasn't found, so maybe the whole ancient giant numbers theory isn't dead yet... Nice opening scene with the rocks pirates robbing a island who's whole personality is being good, so of course they're frauds. We get some decent little hints at their personalities with shiki and kyo's rivalry and gloriosa and stussy's lovesickness. I didn't notice little katakuri and oven there, nice touch. Harald enters his hardass dad phase. Every little scene with ida is a gem as she schools xebec on his toxic friendship. Then of course there's the mother of all twists that shakky being a beloved waifu to all the idiots on pirate island and the roger pirate's is what causes a legendary "Serious" incident that's been covered up by the wg. Bless this series.

So many eastern egg and characters interacting with each other. Garp and harald know each other kaidou being a lil bro to whitebeard and whitebeard already got his df and he's not the captain of this crew. Rocks is really a charismatic and powerful individual that even newgate follow him. So the crown jewel of hachinosu is shakky, does that mean that the celestial dragons kidnapped shakky and that led to the god valley incident? If that is true, it wasn’t the devil fruits they were after, it was shakky herself as the treasure of hachinosu. 

 

Leading to rayleigh freeing her from the celestial dragons on god valley and then seting up shakky‘s rip off bar on sabaody. Okay, so first of all, who the hell is this hero they're referring on the cover story? No trace of body was left behind? So he's basically alive, right? Or his body is alive! No body, not dead in the op verse. Second, smol katakuri, daifuku, and oven, what the hell! Freaking adorable, actually! I tell you guys, when katakuri was born, his baby clothes was already that and his diapers are also made of leather. Third, it's still funny af how shakky is this legendary figure. Straight legendary. But please. Please don't tell me he's teach's mother.

I'm loving the implication that shakky is basically the helen of troy of the one piece world. If god valley is the trojan war, how would each of the players fit as iliad characters? To me seems like rocks would be like achilles here. Everything we have learnt about rocks has only made me like the guy more. He pillaged "Charity money" but oda makes it a point to tell us it never was going to be used for that. The dynamics between the members of the rocks crew is also quite fun and chaotic at the same time. Their adventures look as interesting as strawhats' was during the pre-timeskip era. 

 

Off all the legends of the bygone era, rocks is right below roger for me at the moment. And that says a lot about someone who was revealed a few chapters ago being compared to the legend since page one. Glad we got an answer as to why gloriosa joined the rocks pirates, it's because she decided to chase after roger, but her people were either against the idea, or she left on her own due to her culture not allowing men to be brought back. Rocks was a huge rival to roger so by joining his crew she had the opportunity to chase after him. I'm guessing she finally took no for an answer at god valley or when he met rouge.

All I can say for this (confusing) chapter is that this will be more reason for hancock to learn about the god valley incident as well as why those she knew (specifically rayleigh, gloriosa, and shakky) did what they did! Whether or not hancock l understand & accept that their decision to stop rocks from defeating the celestial dragons was a good thing. With all the kuja lore that we've been getting lately, perhaps this could foreshadow hancock & probably her crew coming to elbaph just like what dorry & brogy did in the last arc!? 

 

If gloriosa & shakky both left the kuja pirates during rocks's era, then wouldn't this mean tritoma became the youngest known person to be crowned empress of amazon lily, unless she was slightly older than hancock who succeeded tritoma when she was 18 years old? If so, then perhaps this could parallel with how luffy became the youngest person to become one of the 4 emperors! Assuming what most people stated is true, and shakky was a prize at god valley, then wouldn't something like that undermine her strength & reputation since she could've been able to save herself & the others from the celestial dragons with or without any outside help, but didn't?

Gloriosa telling big mom she cranks out kids like popcorn might be the most savage insult I have seen in one piece. Roger’s final words to rayleigh must have been, “now you don’t have an excuse for shakky.” that’s why rayleigh cried because he knew he was now trapped in marriage prison. I guess I can see another reason why boa hancock get chosen to become shicibukai other than due to her strength. The kuja pirate's popularity and decades of history among big name pirates in the world is a highly regarded. It is no brainer choice for world government. 

 

Especially their top member. Anyone made a name there is like a testament of proven track record in the world. Nothing could go wrong. This chapter is oda at his peak (again). It's what you get when you have such a rich world with incredible characters, interactions, relationships, backstories and events that we can be 3-4 layers deep into a backstory away from the main cast and have it be just so damn good. Oda is very much like "Yea I know we gotta get back to the chaos happening on elbaph, but this shit is just so damn fun. This ground is so rich and fertile that if you readers want it and I know you do, and if I'm willing to cook it and you can be sure I want to. We. Can. Be. Eating for a while". This chapter was also just so freaking funny.

Now it makes sense that some folks had cajoles to bully big mom's kids in the past. Folks on hachinosu are all hardened criminals, so of course they wouldn't be as afraid as most regular people would be. The rocks pirate are such a dysfunctional group. Garp probably just wants giants to join so he can have a giant sparring partner. It’s funny how rocks and whitebeard just fall for shakky, didn’t expect that. I doubt harald will try to kill rocks since that would only proof giants are nothing but brutes. 

 

One thing I'm wondering is if rocks is actually evil. He's clearly no angel, but his targets seem to be mostly world government affiliated. His main goal is to topple them and I don't think any of us would argue they don't deserve it. I thought their raid at the beginning of the chapter would show that rocks is a bad guy, but they seemed to be right claiming the money wasn't actually for charitable causes. While rocks doesn't seem to have been a kind soul, it's entirely possible his evil reputation was exaggerated by the world government.

One piece is in its final arc, oda is heard mumbling "5 more years" in his sleep, op fans are still doubting the author's timeline, jump manga has released oda ai into the world which has written over one thousand chapters of one piece spin offs and prequels, one piece has become the world's biggest and most beloved franchise, nations stopped ongoing wars so that they could read new chapters, cooperations stopped polluting the earth's for the same reason, world peace achieved due to one piece, yet throughout all of this, yamato's cover story is still ongoing. So shakky was the treasure of pirate island that was stolen and taken to god valley? 

 

I wonder if harold took her there or he didn't accept and someone else kidnapped her. I think something very interesting is hidden in that silhouetted panel of the 5 elders at the very end. It looks like st. Jupiter (the youngest looking one) wasn’t there and there was a different elder in his place in the far left. You can tell because the guy on the far left looks like he has a really long beard while jupiter has a short beard. And that can’t be mars because mars has to be the one second to the right since he’s always standing when the five elders are in their room together. Maybe an elder was killed for incompetence after the god valley incident and jupiter replaced him?

What's interesting is we haven't seen a single interaction between Roger and Rocks yet . I wonder what kind of relationship these two have. I mean we know they're enemies but i just can't see it yet. I think Roger tried to get Shakky from Hachinosu and was defeated by Rocks. It's weird, you'd expect Rocks to be this heartless monster similar to Akainu or Lucci, since he's meant to the the Blackbeard to Roger's Luffy, yet he's actually a pretty fun guy and even loyal to friends like Harald. Genuinely enjoying every chance we get to see him on screen and hope we get to see his strength proper. It runs in the family. Blackbeard was, and still is, a well loved villain too. His very first scene was him fighting Luffy over pies. Think all the great pirate captains we've seen so far have some type of goofy, lovable sides to them. Or maybe it's an inherent nature of Will of D people. Shakky being a big trigger for God Valley is what makes OP so great. Oda has been hyping up this event and all the characters involved just for it to be a giant simp war. Never change Oda.

I wonder what shakky's aim is! If she is the 'treasure of hachinosu' that leads to god valley, does that imply rayleigh and the roger pirates end up saving her from the island? I like how goofy this flashback is getting, though I would've loved getting more exposition about rocks' goals. To expand on my curiosity of shakky's goals, do yall think there could be some hidden knowledge passed down by the kuja pirate captain/woman isle empresses relating to the war between pirates and the world government?

 

Shakky ended up moving to sabaody in the current time but im curious why she chose these locations to set up a bar. Both seem to be hubs for pirates - fullalead during rocks' era and sabaody for the current pirate age heading to the new world- so did she set up shop for a front row seat to the top pirates? Back on sabaody she called herself a fan of luffy and the past two chapters have largely centered around her being idolized by many of the top pirates of that era. It's quite funny to see katakuri, oven, and daifuku aura farming since they were kids. God's valley incident reminds me of homer's troy. The trojan war, the legendary conflict in ancient greece, also happened over a woman. I wonder if we will get to see who his mother is. I really hope it´s not shakky. That will be interesting to see, rocks will probably meet his mother in one of their raids. Gloriosa would be a more reasonable pairing age-wise. I can see her jealousy of shakky's popularity leading to some kind of fling with rocks to prove she's as attractive as shakky is. If blackbeard's mom is one of those two, then I'm pretty sure his kuja heritage is the special bloodline the gorosei were talking about way back when.
