Whenever it's flashback time i get goosebumps. I'm so happy to be seeing more of brook. The kingdom seems too happy, so this is also one of those flashbacks that will end in tragedy, i presume. Also, wow brook is strong. It seems weird that flashback brook seems to have a very powerful technique which present brook has not shown at all.
But i guess it's understandable that spending 70 years alone on a ship and literally dying might make someone a bit rusty. Finally the official translation, now maybe i can stop seeing posts everywhere of people claiming brook was royalty, related to the king. "but he called him bro!" it was never meant to imply they were actually brothers. Douzan probably was the previous master of ragnir and nidhoggr fruit user, it makes the most sense considering the context of what imu was talking about in the first two pages about "ragnir waiting all this time for one who could strike back against mu".
I'm guessing that douzan probably tried to turn to joyboy's side, but before he could join him imu killed him. So joyboy ended up with no nidhoggr to support him.
