So let me get this straight. It looks like that one way or another dragon, garp‘s biological son, helped shanks escape his evil father, letting rodger get the chance to raise him into the pirate we know him as in the main series. Later shanks would inspire luffy into being a pirate himself. And then after that we have all the events of luffy’s journey with him unlocking his sun god powers and what not. I find it immensely hilarious and tragic how garp keeps making his own worst enemies. Like the man legitimately can’t stop. I mean with the information we received from this flashback, he both directly and indirectly created several of the navy/world government’s worst enemies. And he’s supposed to be their hero!
Dragon's situation as a rookie marine is why I find it hard to totally believe that that navy is a general unseen positive to the world, the navy's set up so that nobody really has freedom of choice to do anything outside of orders. Individual thoughts only distract from the will of the group, focus on completing the mission is just an insane statement as they round up civilians to genocide in a game for royalty. I really love that dragon stood by his convictions and ditched the navy after this. I wonder if vegapunk's speech when he tried to send a message to the d clan is something like "To those scattered throughout the world who bear the name d, within you there is a group whose name has faded into history" referring to the davy clan - and also I wonder whether marshall d is the mother's original name or just a complete cover that blackbeard took like rocks did. Also young morgans design is so cute! I guess that kills some of the theories that morgan was on rogers crew at least as well.
