Garp probably stayed in the marines to stop another hunting games from happening. A kind of "I'll keep your secret but as long as I'm here this will never happen again". But now that he's captured, the wg will use this as an excuse to get rid of him so they can have god valley part 2 where the final battle for the one piece will happen.
Another absolute banger of a chapter. This flashback has been nothing but pure heat since rocks' proper introduction. I honestly think xebec has solidified himself as one of my favorite characters in a shorter amount of time than anyone else oda has written! And that panel of him with whitebeard and kaido ready to fight together is just oozing with cool.

It's nice to see garp didn't know about the celestial dragon's killing game bullshit before god valley, but that still doesn't really excuse his action of remaining a soldier to the wg after this event
Eris seems like a badass, but man every panel with her and teach is so sad
I get that xebec is that guy, but holy shit! God's knights (including garling) are on fraud watch still lmao
Kuma stocks somehow still rising even though we know he did what was shown in this chapter
What do we have to do to get a rocks pirates and proper revolutionary army flag flair here?!
