This is Page 3 of One Piece 1163, click or swipe the image to go to Page 4 of the manga. Xebec continues to defy expectations. It’s getting harder and harder to see him as a true villain. He operates more as a chaotic neutral force someone who will do whatever it takes to stand against the World Government. Now that we know he’s a Davy, and that God Valley was once the Davy clan’s hidden refuge for centuries, his decision to confront Imu directly raises fascinating questions. What drove him to face the most enigmatic being in the world himself? Xebec clearly understands who and what Imu is. He recognizes that Imu has possessed Saturn, knows what Imu looks like, and almost certainly can sense the unique presence of their Haki. When Xebec calls Imu “the world”, it’s not metaphorical it’s the voice of someone who truly knows the weight of that title. It’s tragic knowing this will be his last stand. His death feels inevitable, but if Oda’s writing holds true, it will be nothing short of legendary hopefully something that humbles Imu in a way only Xebec could deliver. Garp, the Marines, and the Horrors They Overlooked
It’s unsettling to learn that Garp apparently didn’t know the true nature of the Celestial Dragons’ “field trips.” That’s a difficult pill to swallow when regular marines are seen actively participating and providing security for the event. Could vice admirals truly remain in the dark about something so horrific, while cadets are forced to take part in it?
If Dragon hadn’t intervened and had simply left the island, would Garp have ever learned the truth? The idea that only one person in recent history dared to speak up about it feels possible but it also stretches belief. It raises painful questions about the blind loyalty and willful ignorance within the Marines.
Roger, Kaido, and the Seeds of the Future
Roger is still in his bright-eyed, Luffy-like stage here reckless, cheerful, and free-spirited. God Valley might just be the turning point that matures him into the Pirate King we come to know.
Kaido’s origin moment with his Devil Fruit fits his character perfectly. Instead of Linlin kindly gifting it to him which always felt off he earns it the Kaido way: by smashing her in the head and taking it for himself. That chaotic energy suits both of them. His excitement at becoming a dragon for the first time is oddly endearing, even though we know it’s about to come crashing down when reality humbles him.
Whitebeard’s Loyalty and the Humanity of Rocks Pirates
There’s something quietly moving about Whitebeard standing beside Xebec against whatever’s coming. The Rocks Pirates were never the close-knit family that Roger’s or Luffy’s crews were, but they weren’t purely selfish either. Their downfall wasn’t simply because Xebec was a terrible captain there was still camaraderie and respect among the chaos. Whitebeard risking his life for his captain, and Xebec respecting that, shows there was more heart in that crew than history remembers.
What’s Next
This arc has shaped up to be monumental Xebec, Whitebeard, Kaido, Garp, Roger, Imu-Saturn, and Garling all poised for one of the most pivotal battles in One Piece history. Garling seems out of it for now, which works well dramatically. But please, Oda don’t off-screen this fight. It doesn’t need to be a blow-by-blow like Luffy vs. Kizaru, but a few chapters of raw, chaotic highlights would make this historic event truly shine.
And through it all, Kuma remains the greatest hero of God Valley a figure whose quiet courage continues to echo across generations.
Finally, with the conclusion of Yamato’s cover story, one can only hope it signals their long-awaited journey to join the Straw Hats. It feels like the perfect moment for that long-promised adventure to begin.
