Honestly I understand your perspective and need for an explanation but look at the nuance I mean fujitora and koby obviously know that the wg is a corrupt organization but they're working to make a change in that slowly. People aren't perfect they make decisions based on consequences and benefit. The benefit of garp turning on the wg is that he could save a lot of lives but in all likelihood the status-quo would never change. Dragon is being set up to be a force equal to those of the strongest in one piece but even with his ability he's really restrained knowing that any bad move can spell doom for his cause, remember the wg reign lasted 800 years and with all these strong forces against them have never succeeded including
xebec. Garp joining his son in his efforts would likely still result in a loss knowing that figures like
joyboy, xebec and potentially
davy jones(not too sure about him) still lost. What dragon is doing is really honorable and he gets my respect but people criticize him for not saving
ginny and
kuma. What I'm trying to say is sometimes people make sacrifices to do what they think is for the greater good sometimes and the lines often get blurred of who's really right but ultimately I don't think either could succeed without the other and all of these compound choices will result in real change.
Garp has put his trust into the next generation of marines and tried to lead them to a path that will likely challenge the government.
I mean look at koby who stood up to
akainu and
s.W.O.R.D who came to his rescue. Garp way of progress is by reforming the future through the youth who will come into power in the future. Sure he's not as likeable as luffy who toppled dictatorships like the animal kingdom pirates and baroque works but luffy and whitebeard still caused a war that killed tons of innocent marines who have no idea the scope of the crimes of the wg, marines who just wanted to protect civilians against the horrors of the new age of piracy the vast majority of which aren't like luffy at all and they did it just to save a friend when you watch the fan letter it really shows you what its like from a normal marine's point of view.
Garp knows that he can directly save a lot more lives in the marines from harm from pirates than he can fighting direct war against it. This is also just my headcannon but I have a theory that whatever happens on
god valley directly correlates with his choice to stay with the marines, like potentially he witnesses
domi reversi (xebec) and realizes how much damage they could do by turning someone like him into their personal puppet. It would certainly explain why he distanced himself from even showing up to
the reverie and why he doesn't fight against
the gods knight because I for one think he could solo them but maybe not
imu. Maybe blackbeard can with his
devil fruit? Who knows but this story is really getting interesting and I'm not gonna pass judgement until we see more of this flashback,
As for
sengoku idk as much but he did support
kuzan for
fa and stepped down for garp so maybe there's still hope idk?
