horcurxes - trinkets with part of
voldemort's soul inside them. They were shown to corrupt anyone who held
them, causing all sorts of suspicions and infighting for whoever wields
them. It magnifies any negative in your personality, any flaws get
turned up to 11 and harry could barely focus while wearing one.
Then you have
dolores umbridge. She wears a horcrux, without issue. Not
only that, but there's the
patronus charm- a spell requiring great
concentration and purity of thought, that even patronus expert harry
couldn't cast while wearing his horcrux. Dolores umbridge? She could
cast it while wearing a horcrux, with ease.
She's just so twisted and convinced in her own beliefs that the horcrux
actually made her stronger there's no dark urge she's got that she
doesn't wield with the conviction that it's absolutely right, so making
her worst thoughts more poweful makes her more powerful.
Jk rowling has turned out to be a truly vile person, sadly, but I always
love the "This character is so warped that the thing designed to bring
out the worst in their personality has no effect" as a plot point.
Imu trying to reversi blackbeard, only for blackbeard to become a nice,
kind person as a result would be absolutely peak one piece.
