I think something huge that everyone seems to be overlooking about the God Valley incident is the incredible respect between the legendary rivals, Roger, Garp, and Xebec. I genuinely believe that Garp and Roger were actively trying to save Xebec and wanted to free him. These guys were the defining rivals of their era, right? But even with that legendary animosity, they didn't want to see one of their own go out the way Xebec did. The evidence is right there: Roger actually shed tears for Xebec. You don't cry for a monster you just killed unless there’s more to the story. Garp tried to comfort him in his final moments, feeling his pain and frustration. This isn't about Xebec losing; Garp would be fine with Rocks losing and getting captured. This is about how he went down losing against his will, possibly due to a manipulative third party (cough Imu cough). It’s about respect for your rivals. Why I Hate Imu Even More Now
If this is true, it paints a much darker picture of the whole event. Xebec deserved better, and even his greatest rivals knew it. This context makes me despise Imu even more, realizing Xebec was probably a victim of whatever larger manipulation was happening there. Garp's justice, which I think totally rubbed off on Dragon, is about protecting people, and no true hero would turn a blind eye to someone being destroyed against their will.

The Monkey Family: Why You Should Stop Hating on Dragon & Garp
I keep seeing people bash Garp for being "useless" or Dragon for being "inactive." But I think we need to look at the Monkeys as three genuinely good people, each with a necessary, but fundamentally different, approach to bringing change to the world.
Garp - The System Guy (Bless his heart)
Approach: Gradual change within the system. Fix what’s broken, slowly, consistently, with planning. This is the real-world view of change.
The Problem: He doesn't know he's in a shonen manga, lol. Gradual change simply does not work between chapters and timeskips. He appears useless because the genre is built for instant, dramatic gratification.
Approach: Radical, unseen machinations to overthrow the system. His path required him to be 'unseen' and meticulously plan.
The Problem: We, the consumers, simply don't have enough details on the effects of his work. It’s slow-burn storytelling, which isn't always the most exciting to watch in a shonen. He’s doing the heavy, unseen lifting.
Luffy - The Chaotic Shonen GOAT
Approach: Freedom, childlike wonder, and the power to make friends with literally everyone. Instant results.
The Problem (for others): He has the literal MC trait. He’s 17-19, and his actions/behavior are perfectly tailored for max effect in this specific fictional world. Of course, he gets instant, massive results.
TL;DR: Garp is working on a long timeline, Dragon is working in the dark, and Luffy is working with the cheat codes (i.e., being the MC). We shouldn't hate on any of them. I certainly can't draw or write a better story than Oda, so I'm just appreciating the complexity! What do you guys think? Was it respect or pity for Xebec?
